Get to know Samantha Linden and Nutrition In Balance

Samantha Linden, BA, RDN is a registered dietitian nutritionist and the founder of Nutrition In Balance, a nutrition consulting and counseling practice in Southeastern Michigan. Samantha works with both individuals and families that need guidance on many nutrition related issues, from weight loss to nutritional management of chronic diseases. In partnership with her clients, she provides individual nutrition programs for children, teens and adults, offering meal guidelines, menus, grocery guides and other tools to help them achieve long-term success. Her whole person approach takes into account what each person personally wants and physiologically needs.

Samantha is a frequent contributor on nutrition topics for local media outlets, including Metro Parent and Neighborhood SEEN. She also regularly lectures to groups of all ages in a variety of settings on the benefits of healthy eating and nutrition. She graduated from the University of Michigan and received her post bachelor’s certificate in nutrition from Wayne State. She completed her clinical hours in the St. John’s health system, and after earning her certification, she went back to work there as a contingent dietitian. Samantha is a registered dietitian with the State of Michigan and is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Nutrition Entrepreneurs in Private Practice and the Michigan Dietetics Association.

Samantha lives in Bloomfield with her husband, Steve, her two kids (Jack and Morgan) and her dog Maggie. She enjoys cooking (although does not profess to be a great cook…just ask her husband), dislikes baking (but does enjoy baked goods!) and trying out new local fitness studios. When Samantha isn’t spending time with her family, she’s watching Netflix and dreaming of her next vacation destination. Her guilty pleasures are all things chocolate and brightly colored high heels. Her favorite cookbook is Jessica’s Seinfeld’s “I Can’t Cook Book” and her food can never be too spicy!

Why it’s important to work with a licensed Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

When researching options for nutrition professionals, it is important to confirm that the person you choose is a Registered Dietitian and not simply a “Nutritionist”. Registered Dietitians have the following credentials, not held by other nutrition providers.

  • Completion of a required amount of clinical work in accredited healthcare facilites.
  • Completion of a substantial amount of training, confirmed by a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Have the ability, in appropriate cases, to accept healthcare insurance for physician referred clients.
  • Required maintanence of stringent continuing professional educational requirements to stay current with the most up to date best nutrition practices.
